Highway fuel efficiency of Mahindra Thar diesel-MT

With Indian carmakers finally turning to diesel engines, Mahindra has gone a step ahead with their new Thar. The company is partnering with Bosch for the launch of the world’s first off-road diesel-manual spec vehicle.

The new Thar is a modern-day off-roader that promises fuel efficiency and comfort. With its BOSCH common rail diesel engine, it will provide up to 37% better fuel efficiency than the earlier version of the vehicle.

The Mahindra Thar Diesel-MT has a fuel efficiency meter, which is designed by ARAI. ARAI is a company that is in charge of testing the fuel efficiency of diesel cars. The mileage on the Thar’s odometer also corresponds to the mileage registered by this fuel meter.

The Thar Diesel-MT has an ARAI-rated mileage of around 13 km/l in city and 18 km/l on highways. This can change depending on how you drive it as well as different weather conditions.

The Mahindra Thar Diesel-MT was tested on an empty highway with steady speed and heavy throttle. It was also carrying a load of 2,000 kgs which is about 4,400 pounds and the fuel efficiency recorded was 12.6 km/l.

This vehicle's estimated highway fuel efficiency is 12.6 km/l which can be seen as less than stellar when compared to other pickups in its class such as the Hino Ranger (13 km/l) or Suzuki Carry Van (10.5 km/l).

A lot of people have been looking forward to this test drive, and it's finally here. First of all, the Thar has a ton of power, and the transmission really helps in the mountains. It has decent wind noise with speeds up to 150 kmph.

The Mahindra Thar Diesel is a 4x4 off-road vehicle that was unveiled by Indian manufacturer Mahindra in 2008. The company claims that it is designed for "extreme terrain."

The Mahindra Thar Diesel-MT has been tested and found to have an average fuel efficiency of 16.99kmpl while driving on the highway.

In the last 51.6km, the car consumed 3.81 liters of diesel and recorded a trip meter distance of 297 kilometers with an average speed of 54 kmph.

The Mahindra Thar Diesel-MT scored 16.99kmpl on the highway which is considerably better than some popular cars in its category like Maruti Suzuki Gypsy's 15 kmpl and Tata Safari Storme's 14 kmpl.
